WHY YOU HAVEN’T RECEIVED YOUR PREPAID METER TOKEN

 



                                        How To Activate Prepaid Meter 

A token is a number sent to prepaid users in order for them to activate their prepaid meter, without this token you can’t load or buy any unit on your prepaid meter after you have exhausted the unit that came with the prepaid meter.

Here are the reasons why you haven’t gotten the token

A toke is a 20-digit number in two places making it the total number of 40 digits though divided into two places so you have to input it twice. So many people have complained that after they exhausted the 100 unit that came with the meter that they were unable to buy a unit

Wrong installation: if the meter is not installed properly the customer service won’t commission it, so also the token won’t be sent. Prepaid meters are to be fixed on cast poll made with sand, stone, and cement and not a wooden poll, they can also fix it on the wall of the house. If the meter is fixed on a wooden poll, they won’t approve the installation and you won’t also get the token, they can even come and disconnect your light.  

Unpaid Bill: if you haven’t settled your electricity bill, it won’t stop them from installing the prepaid meter but you won’t be able to load or buy a unit on the prepaid meter. Note, you don’t have to pay all to zero nairas but the amount owed should also be a reasonable amount if not you will have to go to their office and negotiate with them on how you want to settle the payment.

WHY YOU MUST GET THE TOKEN

Apart from the inability to buy a unit, you will also be receiving the periodic electricity bill even if the meter has been fully installed and connected but because you haven’t activated it, it won’t reflect on their system that you are now using a prepaid meter so you will still receive the monthly bill.

So if they have installed it but have sent the token just go to their office and resolve any pending issues if not they will continue to send you your monthly bill.
